The Best Things in Life Don't Cost Much

There was a time when I thought happiness had to come from big things.

A beautiful holiday.

A new phone.

A bigger house.

Or buying something nice for myself.

But the older I get, the more I realise that some of my happiest moments don't cost much at all.

One of my favourite things is simply sitting outside on a sunny day with a cup of coffee.

No rush.

No plans.

Just enjoying the moment.

I also love cooking.

Not because I have expensive kitchen equipment, but because I enjoy creating something with simple ingredients.

Fresh herbs.

A homemade meal.

The smell of bread baking in the kitchen.

Those moments make me genuinely happy.

Another thing that costs almost nothing is spending time with animals.

Watching a dog wag its tail.

A cat choosing to sit next to you.

Those small moments can brighten an entire day.

Nature is another one.

A walk through a park.

The sound of birds singing.

Watching the wind move through the trees.

Those are things money simply can't buy.

One of my favourite moments is sitting quietly with my thoughts.

Sometimes that's in a park.

Sometimes it's at home with a cup of tea.

Those peaceful moments help me slow down and appreciate everything I already have.

Writing my blog is another example.

It doesn't require luxury.

Just an idea, some time and the courage to share a little piece of myself.

And every time someone enjoys one of my stories, it reminds me why I started writing again.

Of course, money is important.

It pays the bills.

It gives us opportunities.

But I've learned that money alone doesn't create happiness.

The moments I remember most are rarely the expensive ones.

They're the simple conversations.

The homemade meals.

The laughter.

The walks.

The quiet mornings.

As I've grown older, I've stopped chasing more.

Instead, I've started appreciating what I already have.

Because when I really think about it...

The best things in my life have never been the most expensive.

They've simply been the most meaningful.

Love,

Shavida
